Shane Hampton
Shane Hampton, AICP, is a community planner specializing in place-based strategies for districts, main streets, and neighborhoods. His work supports a diverse range of communities, and balances practice areas including community engagement, place management, place character, design, policy, market analysis, and tourism.
Shane currently leads Main Street America’s implementation of the Thriving Communities Program, a USDOT-funded initiative delivering technical assistance to 20 rural and tribal communities across the country. Previously, he directed the University of Oklahoma Institute for Quality Communities, delivering conceptual designs and topical plans for over 50 Oklahoma municipalities. He also provides consulting services through Hampton Planning in partnership with interdisciplinary firms, local governments, tribes, and community-based organizations.
Brent Gathright
Brent Gathright, the Director of Preconstruction at Cowen Construction, has 17 years of experience in design, project management, and estimating. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, he holds both a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master's in Construction Administration. As a Designated Design-Build Professional and a LEED Accredited Professional, Brent oversees preconstruction services and acts as the primary point of contact during the initial project phase.
In addition to his professional role, Brent serves as the ULI-Oklahoma Tulsa Chair. He uses his expertise to advise clients on a project's viability, manage design, and coordinate with the project team to ensure constructability and value analysis. Prior to joining Cowen, he managed the preconstruction phase for new multifamily projects valued at over $800 million. His recent project experience includes Medley Mixed-Use in OKC and 3D Flats in Tulsa.
Feather Smith - Cherokee Ethnobiology
Feather Smith is the Ethnobiology Manager for the Secretary of Natural Resources Office of the Cherokee Nation. As the Ethnobiology Manager, she oversees the care of the Cherokee Nation Heirloom Garden and Native Plant Site and runs the Cherokee Nation SeedBank. Her time with Cherokee Nation began in 2007 as a tour guide in the Diligwa Village where she taught about Cherokee history and culture. She went on to work as a cultural biologist for the tribe in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Science in Fish and Wildlife Biology and is a former Miss Cherokee 2008-2009.

Hailed as a modern-day Olmsted, Olin has spent fifty years transforming public spaces, revitalizing cities, and advocating for a more humane and democratic approach to design.
This 90-minute documentary explores Olin's profound vision through a prism of defining issues: our lost connection to nature, economic marginalization, and the grave importance of humanity in design. It features the voices of other design luminaries, including Frank Gehry and Billie Tsien, who discuss the pressing challenges of our time.
Sitting Still is not just a film about landscape architecture; it is a portrait of an artist whose original paintings and drawings are used to create moments of stillness and reflection within the documentary. The film reminds us that observing the world—by "sitting still"—is one of the best ways to learn and create.
About the Film's Subject: Laurie Olin
Laurie Olin is a world-renowned landscape architect, artist, and scholar. He is responsible for designing some of the most beloved public spaces in the country and around the world, including the grounds of the Washington Monument, the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, New York's Bryant Park, and the gardens at the Getty Center. Olin is the recipient of many notable distinctions, including the National Medal of the Arts from President Barack Obama.
